2007

Trading Standards officers will be giving consumer advice and information to members of the public at Dalston shopping centre next Monday (12/11/07) to launch National Consumer Week 2007.

Hackney residents will be able to speak to an expert about their consumer rights in relation to buying online, over the phone or from catalogues, doorstep sellers and any other consumer issues.

Cllr Alan Laing, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods said:

'It’s really important that consumers know their rights. Quite often people are not aware of the legislation that is in place to protect them, when they wish to return an item or report something as faulty.'

'Shoppers in Dalston should take the opportunity to have a good chat with one our of the Trading Standards officers on Monday, to find out what their rights are, especially as we’re entering the busiest shopping season of the year.'

The theme of this year’s national consumer week, organised by Trading Standards Institute is ‘Buying from afar? Know what your rights are’.
